IT DOESN'T COUNT! . Firstly your honourness, this is 'The Spices' so although, yes, I grant you, it encapsulates the smells of Christmas... this could equally be described as a wintry scent. Cinammon and ginger in fact your lordladyship are often used in partnership throughout the year, not just in winter which I take great pains to point out to the jury is exactly this photo. . No signs of Christmas here. Nope, not until December 1st. No, this a just a wintry scene, a sweet scent of wintering mulled wine (can very obviously be drunk at any time of year) wafting from the diffuser. The fest.. It's country cottage day!!! . Ok, no, no it's not. . But just imagine if it was? One day we will celebrate tiny cottages with gay aplomb - I don't actually know what we would do... light fires to keep warm, burn food in ovens to represent aga living, do a shiver like dance that incorporates staggering from side to side on sloping and uneven floors and throw some straw around to represent the birds stealing the thatch? . Actually today's cottage @wibblywobblycottage doesn't have a thatch!!!! Yes: there are cottages that have beautiful old tiled roofs, it's not all about the Thatch! . It also has amazing beams, sloping floors that made the viewing agent feel sick (yes actually) and owners who are very young but passionately in love with old properties and who have sensitively and lovingly decorated this gorgeous Kent cottage. . After learning about fleece being thrown away or burned, Robyn sourced some, learned how to felt and made a rug for her two dogs. Friends soon begged for their own rugs which quickly resulted in Robyn buying her own flock of sheep to keep up with demand and Fruity’s Fleeces was borned into the world. . Shhh! I'm in hiding. . It's the next 'run' day, I have a ton of work to do and so naturally I am hiding. . I definitely will run after school drop off, I mean, if I get caught chatting to another parent for example, two metres apart (this generally means standing in the road and then doing a dance around the pavement and between cars whenever a car rudely tries to drive on the ROAD! Liberties! . I can't be held responsible if I lose my 'run window'. Yesterday I was just driving off to return home to a yoga zoom when one of the mums waved and laughed a lot, I wound down the window for a cheery 'good morning' to be greeted with 'only you could actually have plants growing out of your bonnet'. . It's true, small weeds and a smidge of grass have taken root and seem very happily ensconced. It makes me smile every morning so I haven't weeded them. Who weeds their car? I struggle with my garden. I found two canoodling wasps in the petrol cap last week so I fear I may be turning into some sort of vehicular earth goddess. . Hence the hiding. I worry what might be sprouting from my hair... armpits... ankles.. It is not that I don't want to go for a run... it's just that I might scare the wildlife!!! This is my plotting chair. . My husband runs for cover when I am sitting here. He knows therein danger lies. . We have spent the past few days discussing how to make Christmas more special for the children if we can't see our family and just suddenly, bit by bit, the children's Father Christmas lists appear to be getting longer: "Mummy, I think a skateboard is actually an excellent idea, it will give me something to do if we go back into lockdown again" "Mummy, I was thinking that maybe a driving experience might be a good idea..." (my son is 11) "if I learned now whilst there are no cars around then it would save time when I am 17". . As their lists grow, my thoughts naturally turn to my own Christmas requirements. I have brought up our googlealexawithyoutubemusicsonosmachine (I truly don't understand it but I do know that when I mention things in the kitchen they pop up on my phone in an advert later (not the walk in bath btw, I am pretty certain I have never mentioned that.. Although...) . I need to focus on my list. Ahem "I really love soft non greying long but not trippable, wrap around but don't make me look michelin, not too heavy but still warm, you can choose the colour but nothing garish and definitely not towelling because that adds another person to my being dressing gowns". . Yesterday I was told that it was beneficial to sit in the sunshine, even when cold. . That actually - surprisingly apparently - it is warm in the sunshine and rather pleasant. . It was not. . I dutifully took my tea and shortbread outside, wrapping myself in my blanket so that I couldn't feel the benefit, stuffed the shortbread in my gob and legged it back inside. . I did manage to capture the beautiful NOT WARM sunshine playing on the winter jasmine and highlighting my well done me for putting off pruning the Wisteria. . Happy win of sorts Wednesday. It is cold. . La Aga is calling to me "Sit here, on the cosy rocking chair filled with plump cushions. Take the weight off, rest, relax, enjoy my warmth". . AHa! No thank you heated temptress! I heard your cheeky little "plump" and "weight" additions. You won't catch me out. No siree, I will run like the wind (more like a very old heifer, lumbering to keep up with the herd) but in my head I shall be glorious, faster than... actually I do run really almost surprisingly slowly, I can't even fool myself. . I can however motivate with the dreams of a lovely hot bath on my return, candles lit, towels plumped (argh that word for again) and water r...
