July’s Are You Sitting Comfortably with A J Pearce

Dear Miss Lake by A J Pearce

Yes- I matched my nails to my book!!! Dear Miss Lake by A J Pearce

We’re delighted to be welcoming back the lovely AJ Pearce for July’s Are You Sitting Comfortably.  Author of the Sunday Times bestseller Dear Mrs Bird, AJ has a new book out and it’s the last in the Emmy Lake chronicles, Dear Miss Lake.  AJ’s books have been published in the US, Canada and Australia, and in translation in over fifteen languages.

Funny, uplifting and full of charm, AJ’s series The Emmy Lake Chronicles which included her debut, Dear Mrs Bird, Yours Cheerfully and Mrs Porter Calling follow the ups and downs of a group of women standing together to face the challenges of WWII.  The series has been so beloved amongst readers that Rebecca and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have AJ back on to chat about bidding a fond farewell to the characters we’ve all loved for so long.

Dear Miss Lake returns us to London in the Blitz and possibly Emmy Lake’s greatest challenge yet.

With a career that is soaring, journalist Emmy finally realises her dream of becoming a Lady War Correspondent.  After nearly five years of war, the nation is struggling and the ‘Yours Cheerfully’ advice column has never been more needed it seems from the volumes of letters Woman’s Friend Magazine receives each week.  For Emmy and her team, it’s all about pulling together and pushing on even though it looks like the war might be over by Christmas.  But then disaster strikes and Emmy finds that she needs her friends more than ever.

Like all of AJ’s wonderful series, Dear Miss Lake, is full of heart and tells a story of how important an ally friendship is in the hardest of times. Prepare to return to all the period charm and heart cheering comfort which we know and love from AJ Pearce as the chronicles reach their conclusion.

Join us on Monday 7th July at 7pm as Rebecca and I chat to AJ all about creating this brilliant series and what it’s been like to follow her characters.  Don’t worry, we’ll be asking her what she’s writing next too, we promise!
